Who seeks advice from experts and then disregards it? Whether it is science, education, economics, health to name a few examples. If they want a 'clever country' they need to lead by example and wise up. They've already missed the boat on 'science and innovation' because scientist are leaving either the sector altogether or taking their talents elsewhere due to financial stress or lack of opportunity? Why would they stay in a country where governments have devalued their field by disregarding advice and cutting funding to the sector?
